Legendary American singer Etta James passes away in California at the age of 73. She has been suffering from leukemia for the last one year, and her treatment continued till her demise. She was 14 when she started her career as a singer. Later, she was associated with famous Chess Records label. Six Grammy awards were bagged by her. She entered Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
She was called by Jerry Wexler, the famous producer, as the greatest among all modern singers. As told by James, her manager, she died while undergoing treatment at Riverside Community Hospital, California. He said that her husband and son were also present with her at that time.
Lupe De Leon said that her death was a big loss for the fans. Lupe also said that she was a great singer of America and she would be missed by all. She was paid tributes by all singers on Twitter and Facebook. Bryan Adams also said that she was the one of the best singers of this time.
Nile Rodgers has said that he had walked down to Flash Record Shop in LA and bought a 45 rpm. 45rpm was made by Etta James. She had born in 1938. Etta James formed Creolettes, a singing group. The band performed together till 1960. The ‘Second Time Around’ and ‘At Last’ were her most famous albums. In 2003, she won Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
