Warren Harding lost with 41-6 to Glenville Academic Campus in the quarterfinals and was eliminated from the competition, without any chances of reaching semifinals.
The game had two MVPs, Shane Wynn and Marion Worthington Jr., both from Glenville and aside the rest of their mates made an “amazing playing”. Jones, though, exited the game with a hip injury during the first half. Thе Tarblooders’ coach, Ted Ginn Sr., nevertheless assured everybody that he’d be ready to go up against St. Edward next Saturday.
Glenville, ranked No. 1 in the area and state poll, No. 5 in the ESPN and 11th in the USA Today national polls, extended its lead to 14-0 at the outset of the second quarter.
After V’Angelo Bentley’s 85-yard touchdown scamper was nullified by an unsportsmanlike-conduct penalty, Robert Walton Jr.’s 2-yard touchdown run capped a 7-play, 85-yard drive which was sparked by quarterback Cardale Jones’ 22-yard completion to Evonte Dunn.
Jones then found Nicholas Davis for a 15-yard scoring toss on the sixth and final play of a 35-yard drive that put Glenville ahead, 21-0, with 6:37 left in the first half.
The Tarblooders went ahead, 27-0, a minute later when Jones scored from 20 yards on a 4-play, 33-yard march that was set up by an Antwan Crutcher interception.
Harding’s lone score came on a 2-yard run by quarterback Mikhail Seawood with 2:59 remaining before intermission and one play after an errant snap on a Glenville punt attempt.
